The Freecycle Network™ is a non profit organization whose goal is to divert useful items from local landfills. Originating in Tuscon, Arizona, The Freecycle Network™ has grown to over 50 countries worldwide. Currently there are 3,938 communities and 3,150,304 members. The communities are created using Yahoo! Groups and they are ran by volunteers. From as large as a piano to a small as a ball of yarn members can post literally any item they wish, so long as it is free.

Napanee established its own Freecycle™ group in May 2005. With 487 members there are many items available for reuse or recycle at any given time. With our communities concerns over our own Richmond Landfill we should look at increasing the groups membership.
